i‘ve been thinking abt a drarry muggle au and can‘t seem to get it out of my head, so here u go with a bit of it
draco owns a little queer library where u can just borrow the books u want. he‘s trying to promote awareness in town
harry works as a security guard in the local museum
therefore he has a lot of free time and has reading as a hobby
they meet at draco‘s library. harry‘s looking for a good book to give his sister
cause yeah he has a little sister, emma
and emma knits fluffy-everything for draco (gloves, hats, jumpers, scarves) cause he‘s so sensitive to the cold
autumn-winter vibes. Yes.
harry sometimes sneaks draco into the museum at night and this is how are several of their dates
but they also go ice skating (harry is shit at it) or snowboarding (draco is shit at it)
harry has an odd obsession with kissing the moles on his neck, according to draco
and he calls draco babe or bubbita and draco pretends he didn’t like it (but he does)

I was gonna send you an ask but I forgot what I was gonna say so instead
Hi
*waves*
*waves* hi! i was gonna send you an ask at some point as well but I---
OOH yes i was reading a book
The Only Problem by Muriel Spark. I know I said it was one of the books I wanted to read before the end of this year, but I finished it this afternoon, and I have no idea what to think of it, to be honest. I've got to percolate with it, maybe read some criticism, and try to understand what she's getting at. That's my singular problem with her. Sometimes, if she doesn't hit you right, you have no clue what she's on about. But her writing is still entertaining, she's got that nice jarring blast of "What on earth?" that makes things fun to read. She's also terribly funny and super genuine, and her writing is good.
I had to write a thesis on her last semester and I enjoyed that as much as I could in the three days within which I desired nothing more than a quick and peaceful death while I wrote, but y'know. It was decent.
At any rate, I love her satirical style and way of poking holes in you til your air rushes out of your ego. I just have to figure out what abscess in my soul she's trying to lance and drain of all that ugly goop inside(My youngest sister, Meadow, wants to be a vet someday and was obsessed with shows where they treat animals with abscesses[along with various other maladies] and personally, I saw one or two episodes once and have never been able to erase the imagery.)
Anyways. I'm currently in the middle of the puzzling period after reading a novel. It's alright.
That's the insights to my life atm. I'm very tired. And ignoring my parents. But I'm truly not in the mood to watch an R-rated action movie atm.

Part of the reason I got into writing fanfic is when writing original fiction I always ended up giving all my characters the same goddamn speaking habits and tone. Which is… a very big problem.
Fanfic provides me a reference on how to write different voices and has helped me improve my original fiction quite a bit. I have something concrete to reference against to keep me consistent.
I am aware I have died on this hill before but people who really strenuously argue that fanfic isn't "real writing" drive me insane. what do you meeeaaaaannn. besides the fact that any attempt to define "real art" vs "fake art" is inherently reactionary, it just doesn't make any sense. it's Writing. people Write it. what the fuck are you talking about.

"I think this Category of human being is disposable" okay that not only sucks and is fascist but also makes getting you to deem someone to be disposable a simple matter of convincing you they're in The Category regardless of the truth. Also The Category is often misapplied to a vulnerable minority because it makes people like you agree they're disposable.
"Anyone who disagrees with me about The Category of people being disposable is a Category apologist or probably also in The Category themselves" Oh so you're just totally unconcerned with truth or justice or ethics or human rights and just are feeding your bloodlust for the sake of revenge fantasies. got it 👍

Problem #1 regarding child abuse is that a lot of people seem to struggle to imagine normal, respectable-looking parents and other authority figures ever doing it despite the statistics so instead they do the stranger danger panic and completely overlook some of the greatest threats.
Problem #2 is that even when people understand, even if in an abstract way, that parents can be abusive they just... don't seem to actually register that as something that can apply to real life. It's just hypothetical to them and doesn't actually guide their ideas of how to prevent child abuse.
Problem #3 is that even after overcoming the above biases a lot of people have a very narrow image of what abusive parenting is where they imagine like... people doing violent things basically out of sadism and without provocation. They don't seem to think it's "real" abuse if the victim did something that "justifies" punitive violence, like disobeying the parents.
In fact, most people think parents have a right to do a whole lot of awful things to their children beyond just hitting them, like violating their privacy, controlling their access to information, and deciding what/when/if they eat, among other things.

Apparently this needs to be said so
Forgetting things is morally neutral! Memory issues are morally neutral!
You're not a bad person if you...
forget things quickly
forget people
can't remember entire stages of your life
can't remember important things
can remember some things very well and forget other things all the time
can't remember things (or anything!) about your interests
forget to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, etc
forget to reply to texts
remember things and immediately forget them again
can't remember birthdays, events, etc
frequently answer 'I forgot' to questions
can't retain new information
forget things you used to know
only remember things when it's too late
have vague, distorted and/or unreliable memories
depend on others to know how an event you were in played out
have other symptoms that are worsened by memory issues and vice versa
... and anything else I might have missed!

one last batch of Scully Js for the road before Malleus eats my brain again
let's all pour one out for the King of Halloween, whose only crime was being born a Hot Topic goth before Hot Topic existed for him to shoplift his Jack Skellington merch from (and also the whole turning people into pumpkins thing I GUESS) (look, nobody's perfect)

seriously have been thinking about this all night long. call me autistic but the fact that 90% of workplaces the point is not to get your work done and then be done doing it but to instead perform an elaborate social dance in which you find something to do even when you're done doing everything you need to do in order to show your fellow workers that you, too, are Working . because you are at Work . disgusting why cant we all agree that if there is no work immediately to be done. we just dont do anything

i desperately need people to realize there's a difference between "women need to coddle (cis) men's feelings even when they're being misogynistic uwu" and "we shouldn't tolerate misogyny but actively keeping men separate from women and treating them like they're inherently dangerous to women is only going to worsen the problem (and also this mindset causes IMMEASURABLE harm to nonbinary, trans, and intersex people, who are already incredibly at risk right now)" and i need people to realize that NOW
